When God Takes You Out of Your Comfort Zone

HAPPY NEW YEAR! Since I have the privilege of sending out the first message for the year, I ask what will the year bring for us? We know from year to year things change and this year we be no different to the extent you may be taken out of your comfort zone. A place where you feel comfortable. I am sure that Mary & Joseph when told what Herod had intended to do they picked up baby Jesus and fled to Egypt. Certainly, out of their comfort zone.

What can we learn from this event in our Lord’s life. For one thing, don’t be surprised if sometimes God takes you out of your “comfort zone.”

The recent demonstrations for “Equality in Justice” has changed many lives already and will continue to change people’s lives throughout the coming year. Are you ready to be taken out of your comfort zone? I honestly believe that God has a higher purpose for us than we now realize. A higher purpose that He wants to accomplish through us this year. What is it that God is calling you and I too? How can we be sensitive to His leading so that we can know the opportunities that are set before us?

Often at the beginning of a New Year people wish each other health, prosperity, and success. Even more importantly though, my prayer for all of us is that we have the joy and peace of being within God’s plan for our life. The excitement of new challenges as we serve Him wholeheartedly, with confidence, that no matter where His will may lead us, we have a Savior who loves us and is there for us. Even when we find ourselves outside of our comfort zones, we still have the comfort of being in God’s everlasting and unchanging love.

Are you willing to be challenged by God to grow and expand in your service to Him? Let us pray for the wisdom to know what it is that God is calling us to do this year, even if it means doing something that we’ve never done before. Then let us pray for the courage, strength and determination to be able to do it.
